Rethinking How to Blog

Well...it has been a while since I last blogged. There are several reason for this prolonged absence, however, all of them lead back to the core reason for my lack of blogging in recent weeks: I am completely new to blogging and did not fully think through what it takes to have a consistent and meaningful blog.

I have read many people's blogs and I figured that these bloggers were just writing from their heart. I figured there had to be some planning but it couldn't possibly be more than just sitting down, thinking about a good topic, and then writing from your heart about that topic. Well, that certainly is one to go about it. And I am sure that there are plenty of people out there with the gift to do it in this way.
However, what my first venture into the blogging world has taught me is, I am not one of those people who can sustain a meaningful blog without a long plan and strategy that will propel me forward.

I have spent the last few weeks trying to develop a plan for how to maintain a meaningful blog that people can invest their time and energy into and come out blessed, informed, and inspired. These are some core values that I have for my blog. I want people to read my blog and be informed about a wide range of topics, including, Jesus, Church Planting, Theology, Evangelism, Leadership, Mission Work- Particularly in the UK, London, and so much more. I want people to be informed about my family and how we, as a family led by God, are adapting, adjusting and growing into our roles as Kingdom workers.

But this blog is not just about information. I want for people to be inspired by what they read. I want to share stories of redemption. Stories of the power of Jesus in the lives of the broken and hurting. I want to share stories of faith as well as stories of falling short, forgiveness and being picked up by the Spirit of God.

Finally, I want this blog to bless people's lives. It is my prayer that by sharing information about the life of Jesus' church in Nashville and London, sharing stories of faith, inspiring people to explore scripture and Jesus to a higher degree, that ultimately they will be blessed by the power and majesty of God.

Ultimately this is a blog meant to point people to Jesus.

So, this blog will look a little bit different in a few weeks. Laura will be writing more in it about our family and we will become more consistent with our values. Ultimately, may Jesus be praised.
