Well...it has been a while since I last blogged. There are several reason for this prolonged absence, however, all of them lead back to the core reason for my lack of blogging in recent weeks: I am completely new to blogging and did not fully think through what it takes to have a consistent and meaningful blog.

A Movement of Prayer
I was having coffee with a friend recently and we began talking about prayer. We discussed the power of prayer and God's responsiveness to his people who pray to him. He told me something that has consumed me ever since we met nearly four weeks ago. He was in the process of beginning a huge project and he was convicted to pray this project into existence. I asked him what this meant and he told me that instead of spending countless hours developing strategies and plans he and his team spent an entire month praying over the project. What were the results of this time dedicated to praying this project into existence? God exceeded all expectations and goals and blew them out of the water!

Don't Be Afraid, Just Believe
I recently read an interesting article titled, "Why You're Not Reaching the Unchurched." I found the article very insightful and challenging. Insightful because churches today tend to think that "tweaking" some element of their worship will draw in a large crowd of unchurched people. However, unchurched people do not care if you have the newest and "coolest" things at your disposal. What they are looking for is a simple invitation. I found it challenging because it seems that, at times, one of the hardest things for us Christians to do is to invite a friend, co-worker, family member or acquaintance to church.

Partner in God's Mission to London
Dear Friends,
You have richly blessed us with friendship, conversation, prayer and finances, and we hope we have blessed you in return. We are eager to share more of our story with you. Laura and I have been hard at work developing a long-term vision, mission and strategy for planting new churches in London. Please let us encourage you with scripture as we present a glimpse of our future work.

A Banquet with Friends
Last night we attended an awesome banquet hosted by Kairos Church Planting. Kairos trains church planters how to plant new churches. We have been blessed to go through the training process with them and we feel more and more confident in our ability as lead church planters. It was a great evening with great food and even greater company.

Not Enough Churches...
I have never lived in a city with so many churches. There are churches on every corner of every street in this entire city. Nashville has been termed the "belt buckle" of the Bible Belt and I am beginning to understand why.
So when I first heard of a church being planted in Nashville, my initial, naive, thought was...why Nashville? Aren't there enough churches here? And then, about three and half weeks ago, my family and I moved to Nashville and began our new life here.

"ah ha" Moments
Have you ever had one of those "ah ha" moments in life? Those moments where you suddenly remember something that, for one reason or another, vanished from your memory. Do you remember what it felt like to remember? Depending on what was forgotten the emotions can range from relief and satisfaction to fear and worry.

Moments of Discovery
We all go through periods of self discovery from time to time. Moments in our life where we learn new things about ourselves. Sometimes these are difficult revelations but often they bring us new opportunities and adventures through which we continue to grow and learn more about who we are.
Laura and I recently went through a time of Discovery.

Beginning a New Life
Have you ever embarked on a new journey in your life that is both uncertain and completely certain at the same time? Last week my family and I moved to Nashville, TN, beginning a new chapter in our life. We left a place (Memphis, TN) and a group of people (Harding School of Theology, Raleigh Community Church, White Station Church of Christ, Highland Church of Christ, ETC.) that we loved dearly and learned a great deal from. We moved in order to set out on a mission that we feel God has been leading us to for the last two and a half years.
